The company’s third beach resort in Thailand has opened at Koh Samui island’s most idyllic sunset location.
Relaxing on Koh Samui’s best sunset beach is just one of the highlights at Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ latest Thai property. Mövenpick Resort Laem Yai Beach Samui, which opened on 6 December, is a stunning boutique beach resort with 50 rooms, pool villas, beachfront villas and two-bedroom villas.
The resort overlooks several tropical islands in the Gulf of Thailand and is located on the northwest coast of Koh Samui. Pristine Laem Yai Beach offers privacy to enjoy the exclusive sandy stretch and the spectacular sunsets it is famous for. Guests can savour beachfront dining with a choice of both Thai and international specialities at The Terrace restaurant, while The Deck bar offers cocktails to enjoy around one of three swimming pools.
An exquisite range of treatments and ancient Thai healing therapies is offered at Chaba, the resort’s herbal wellness retreat. Along with kayaking and snorkelling in the stunning Angthong National Marine Park, guests can hike in the surrounding forest, shop at local fishing villages and visit Thai temples.
Mövenpick Resort Laem Yai Beach Samui provides a tropical location for intimate weddings, special occasions and romantic encounters. Private beach dinners and pampering wellness experiences are arranged for honeymooners and couples at the resort, which is just 30 minutes from Samui International Airport.
Laem Yai Beach on Samui is the international hospitality company’s third location in Thailand, alongside Bangtao Beach and Karon Beach in Phuket. The upscale hotel company counts Thailand as one of its most important destinations for further development and current expansion plans are in place for four additional hotels in the next four years.
Mövenpick’s next Thai resort will open in Pattaya at the end of 2015 and will be followed by Chiang Mai, Suriwongse the year after. Two additional planned properties will be located in Hua Hin and Bangkok.
“With its stunning beaches, lush jungles and extraordinary cultural heritage, Thailand is a tourism epicentre. The contribution of travel and tourism to Thailand's economy and employment is significant and we are confident that the country will remain a key leisure destination in the long run,” said Andreas Mattmüller, Chief Operating Officer of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Middle East and Asia.
Tossapol Satitwittayakul, Executive Director of the Thana Group, the hotel’s owning company added: “I look forward to our partnership with Mövenpick and seeing this idyllic beachfront property benefit from the company’s high quality operating standards and access to new markets. The beautiful sunsets on the beach and surrounding green hills make Mövenpick Resort Laem Yai Beach Samui one of the island’s most romantic boutique resorts, a reputation we would like to grow further.”
Within wider Asia, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is in the process of organically growing its brand presence in a systematic way. The company aims to operate at least 25 properties in the continent by 2020, strategically managed from its regional office in Bangkok. At present, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has 81 properties around the world.
